corners of home

I sometimes forget that there are pretty little corners in our house, little spaces that aren't piled with rubble and broken tiles and damaged floorboards. In celebration of the fact that our new bathroom arrived this month (oh it's going to be so fine when it's a bathroom and not just lots of bits of bathroom sitting in the hall and living room and kitchen) I thought I'd share some of the lovelier corners with you....

  11. Oooh! You have a copy of The Bride Stripped Bare! I've never met anyone else who has read it and it made such an impression on me that I am now terribly over excited to find someone who has. I used to feel that way with my ex, and I'm so glad I don't any more :) Hope that the wedding season chills out for you soon.

  13. Oh darling I want to live in your shoe closet. Or on your bookshelf, as it seems that your shoe closet is already claimed.

  16. The fourth picture immediately made me think of the quote,
"Bibliophiles are easy to spot at cocktail parties. They are the ones lingering near the host's bookshelves, their heads cocked at a 45 degree angle, scanning the collection of books and comparing it to their own."
I found myself, head tipped sideways, reading off your titles and smiling.

  18. ummm, peonies.... question. how is it that people like you are able to keep their shoes so beautifully lined up? is it that you're genetically predisposed to actually put them away at the end of the day vs. letting them just hang out where you took them off until you decide to wear them again (like me)? please, i'm dying to know.

  23. It's heartening to find some corners of sanctury admidst the chaos isn't it. My chaos is created by 2 small people with far too much time on their hands.

I am very much looking forward to seeing the rest of your house as it unfolds x

  27. Yes, yes, everyone's going on about the shoes, but I had to jump on the bandwagon - it is now my dream to have the cupboard space to display my shoes in neat rows for the world to enjoy.
