Big Dog Small Baby

For the last few years I've been desperate for a big dog. I've also been quite keen on a small baby (I waver more on the baby than I do on the dog).

This series of pictures by Emmy Anne at A Dirty Blonde however has convinced me that there is simply no point in having one without the other.

So. Big dog and small baby it is then. One day

  1. you think you want a big dog now...till you have a behemoth jumping all over your face in bed and taking up all the room on the couch and being tall enough to steal things off counters and dressers. good luck with that!

  2. this is the sweetest set of pictures i've seen in a long time! i do have to say though - i have a 45 pound dog (not big by most people's standards) and there have been many days she's knocked me over. she's the sweetest little lover, but small dogs are the ticket for me. :)

  6. It's pictures like that last one that make me want a dog and a baby, too. That, and cute baby clothes. And shoes. DJ keeps telling me that is not a reason to get pregnant. He's probably right.

    But one day!

  11. Oh my goodness, mastiffs are simply amazing. My husband and I have a three month old mastiff that will be the same size of the dog in the pictures. They say that mastiffs are the best dog for people with disabilities and one of the top five dogs with children because they are so slow and lazy. Our puppy plays plays plays, but then sleeps like nothing I have ever seen. He things he is a lap dog, but I love him for it. Anyway- if you want a big dog, look at mastiffs. Our dog is from a breeder in Virginia and is a "maso mastiff" which is a cross. They are bred to live longer and be healthier. Sorry for the ramble, but I am just so in love with our little giant that I am convinced everyone should have one.

  13. Big dogs make the best baby sitters sometimes.

It's adorable watching my friends son with her brother's lab, pulling him around playing with him and the lab just loves it.

  17. we're doing small dog, small baby (because big babies can be odd). but, you should have the baby first and tell me how it all works out...

  21. Small dog, small baby works better for me (we live in a teeny tiny flat).

  22. I am the odd man out. Yeah, the picture is sweet, but I am terrified of dogs and babies together. I can never trust a dog to that extent even if I love it.

    Love your blog though.

  24. what adorable pictures...though, it seems silly to call a giant pooch adorable.

I'd love to have a big old slobbery mastiff...

  25. Big dogs are simply the best. How I yearn to not live in a tiny little london flat and have room for a newfoundland or a bloodhound! Droolicious!

  26. Neapolitan Mastiff.

Don't do this; mistakes can be made even by the sweetest dogs.
