People believe that 'rsvp' is a suggestion. It's not.
At some tragic point in the last hundred years it became ok to wear trainers to the ballet. I do not approve.
The words 'thank you' have gone out of fashion.
While I've become capable of buying an item of clothing that is neither black jersey, grey and/or stripy I am not yet capable of buying said item of clothing without also buying black jersey and grey stripes at the same time. This is progress. Of a sort.
Not everyone really wants to sell what they are offering to sell. This is confusing.
Leggings are not pants. Not everyone has received the memo.
People are mean on the internet. People are also wonderful on the internet.
Birthdays are the best.
Twenty five is a nice age to be.

I'm so with you on the RSVPs - I love the event application on facebook because it makes it so much easier to coordinate groups of people. But those people who just respond 'Maybe' or don't even respond at all or won't say why they can't confirm attendance is just rude. Often it seems like they're just waiting for a better offer before they commit themselves to something!
ReplyDeleteyup, you've pretty much nailed all of your points here... the only one i would say i haven't personally experienced is the one about "thank you". and you might think that in my current line of work there would be a noticeable lack of thank you... still, i find that more often than not, those words do find their way into the exchange :)

ReplyDeleteYea I don't understand who wears sneakers to something like the ballet- putting some effort for one evening wontttt kill you. Same goes with the leggings! It's very hard not to stare at what theyre displaying lol. Love your blog :)

Oh, you would have loved an outfit I saw a while ago... not the youngest of girls wearing those black licorice leggings from American Apparel with a short (i.e. waist length) fluffy white/cream cardigan and high heeled black ankle boots. She didn't have the smallest bottom either...

The OUTRAGE over "Leggings pt3" cracks me up.
I lived through "Leggings pt2" in the late 80s/early 90s and as long as you wear an appropriately long enough top piece - who cares?
What's the difference between leggings and skin tight pants? a zipper?

ReplyDeleteI hear you. Everything I own is gray, black, white, brown or khaki. I'm not sure why. Maybe because I have bright red hair. Or because I see so much color in my life from day to day I need a little backdrop. That should be my new years resolution for 2010 - more color!

the day that people stopped dressing up to go to the theatre was a sad day indeed... one of the great things about going to the ballet/a play/whichever is getting to dress up for it! *tsk tsk on the trainers indeed
