People believe that 'rsvp' is a suggestion. It's not.
At some tragic point in the last hundred years it became ok to wear trainers to the ballet. I do not approve.
The words 'thank you' have gone out of fashion.
While I've become capable of buying an item of clothing that is neither black jersey, grey and/or stripy I am not yet capable of buying said item of clothing without also buying black jersey and grey stripes at the same time. This is progress. Of a sort.
Not everyone really wants to sell what they are offering to sell. This is confusing.
Leggings are not pants. Not everyone has received the memo.
People are mean on the internet. People are also wonderful on the internet.
Birthdays are the best.
Twenty five is a nice age to be.

I'm so with you on the RSVPs - I love the event application on facebook because it makes it so much easier to coordinate groups of people. But those people who just respond 'Maybe' or don't even respond at all or won't say why they can't confirm attendance is just rude. Often it seems like they're just waiting for a better offer before they commit themselves to something!
ReplyDeleteyup, you've pretty much nailed all of your points here... the only one i would say i haven't personally experienced is the one about "thank you". and you might think that in my current line of work there would be a noticeable lack of thank you... still, i find that more often than not, those words do find their way into the exchange :)
ReplyDeleteNot everyone wants to sell what they offer- that made me think, "oh yeah, how true". It is strange, isn't it? 27 is good too!
ReplyDeleteHappiest of B's.
ReplyDeleteLook at all of your wisdom! Wise, wise 25-year-old Peonies.
ReplyDelete(Glad it was splendid, despite the trainers.)
happy birthday...and all of your observations are so right on.
ReplyDeletegreat observations. you are wonderful on the internets.
ReplyDeleteAt some point in the last hundred years it became acceptable to wear SHORTS to the ballet.
ReplyDeleteImagine my horror.
Thank goodness for wonderful people on the internet.
Happy birthday!
You nailed it with this list, nailed it.
ReplyDeletemade me laugh out loud..
I love this list of thoughts. I agree wholeheartedly with you on all of them.
ReplyDeletehappy birthday! i just turned 25 two months ago! 26 i might not be as ok with depending on where i'm at in my life.
ReplyDeletei had a birthday last week and it WAS wonderful! (and 27 is a good age, but so was 26) see: http://wishful-fillment.blogspot.com/2010/01/undeserved-birthday-bliss.html
ReplyDeletealso, i'm so glad you mentioned the leggings/pants confusion! i was concerned that i was the only one who noticed!
I think THANK YOUS should be a must... what happened to a simple thank you.. for everything?! Appreciation....
ReplyDeleteexcellent observations! Happy Birthday (belated I guess)!
ReplyDeleteOh, Happy Birthday, dearest!!
ReplyDeletexoxo,
-birthday
Ooo, I am over twice your age, but have only learned these things through experience...you are wise my dear....happy bday! smiles.
ReplyDeleteLeggings are not pants... I think this should be a poster!
ReplyDeleteI liked 25.. but 26 has done me well.. I'll be leaving that behind next week though.. 27 here I come!
Happy Birthday P x x
All very true.
ReplyDeleteHappy (belated?) Birthday!
ReplyDeleteYea I don't understand who wears sneakers to something like the ballet- putting some effort for one evening wontttt kill you. Same goes with the leggings! It's very hard not to stare at what theyre displaying lol. Love your blog :)
ReplyDeleteoh, i do hope you had a splendid birthday :) the ballet sounds dreamy...i've never been but perhaps should make a point of it. and also, i would properly dress. just to reassure. as for all of the other stuff...you are so right. sigh. hoping 25 contains lots more thank-yous and niceties :)
ReplyDeletexo, em
Oh, you would have loved an outfit I saw a while ago... not the youngest of girls wearing those black licorice leggings from American Apparel with a short (i.e. waist length) fluffy white/cream cardigan and high heeled black ankle boots. She didn't have the smallest bottom either...
ReplyDeleteps. 28 seems to be quite good so far. although I agree, 25 was a good age. and so neat. and pleasing.
Good List P&P's!
ReplyDeletebut, oh you youngin's.
The OUTRAGE over "Leggings pt3" cracks me up.
I lived through "Leggings pt2" in the late 80s/early 90s and as long as you wear an appropriately long enough top piece - who cares?
What's the difference between leggings and skin tight pants? a zipper?
:)

happy birthday. love these observations and your beautiful blog.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
ReplyDeleteohhh i missed this until now- happy birthday! I think I tweeted to you?
ReplyDeleteI hear you. Everything I own is gray, black, white, brown or khaki. I'm not sure why. Maybe because I have bright red hair. Or because I see so much color in my life from day to day I need a little backdrop. That should be my new years resolution for 2010 - more color!
ReplyDeleteooooo, hit the nail on every point here. bravo!
ReplyDeletei wonder if you know how happy you make me...
ReplyDeletexoxox
great observations!...and 25 is a good age to be...totally agree
ReplyDeleteum. does that mean i have to rsvp to evites?? dammit. i hate evites. also, i fear commitment. DAMMIT.
ReplyDelete@Those Tricks that is just the thing. in the 80's WE COVERED OUR ASSES. are you not getting this action in your corner of the world??
the day that people stopped dressing up to go to the theatre was a sad day indeed... one of the great things about going to the ballet/a play/whichever is getting to dress up for it! *tsk tsk on the trainers indeed
