coffee cups

I think I need this. Although to be honest I don't think really I need anything that facilitates my burgeoning espresso habit. Sure I could fill it with nettle and peppermint tea, but yawn?

For years I hated coffee. I loved the smell but the taste was revolting. Then about 2 months ago the smell became too enticing to resist. And what do you know, it was delicious. I think they changed the recipe or something. Kind of like they did with mushrooms because those things used to taste like crap but all of a sudden they're kind of yummy.

It's a dangerous sign when I start shopping for paraphernalia for a new interest. When I start reading the backs of the 72 different coffee packets in wholefoods, find the fact that robusta beans contain twice as much caffeine as arabica beans fascinating and feel that a new cup, small and perfectly formed is entirely necessary it is a sure sign that I'm on the verge of developing an unhealthy dependency.

All of which would be fine if I wasn't actually not really allowed coffee because it makes me ill. But it's just So Good. And look at the precious little cups that you can drink it from.

  1. I used to hate mushrooms too. I spent my childhood picking mushrooms in the woods and then cringing when my mother tried to convince me to eat one.

All those little cups are beautiful, and if I don't get the little owl ones, then I'm afraid my life might be without meaning. What will I do.

  3. just so you know, i have the inside scoop, and they DID change the recipe for mushrooms... just try to keep it on the down low, ok?

and i don't even know where to begin with coffee. i really don't like the stuff, but i'm totally addicted. the mister got me started on it, and please don't ask me why i would drink something i don't like, but now if i skip a day, it's headache city! pain killers won't do the trick either. as soon as i take a sip of coffee, however, the headache is gone, poof! oh well, at least i'm not an alcoholic...

  5. oh no! no coffee??? that is awful. you need immediate pampering to compensate for that illness.

cute cups are always good for tea or even pencils.

  6. hi Elissa, I'm sorry I missed your question before. I use a canon 50D and a 1.2 50mm lens mostly, sometimes a 24-70mm but not very often.

    I hope that helps.

  7. i never drank coffee because i seem to be immune to caffeine and it doesn't do anything to pep me up and i thought it tasted like dirt. but my boyfriend makes the best coffee with freshly ground beans, honey, and milk, so now i drink his coffee occasionally because it is so mmmm i love unique pottery like this!

  8. Ah just fill with them with whiskey. I can't drink coffee either - migraines. Luckily no such effect from alcohol.

  9. I love the penguin cup and the tiny little ones you posted last.

And coffee. Oh man, do I love coffee. I have an unhealthy dependency - caffeine headaches galore if I don't have a cup by about 10:30 in the morning.

But, if it does make you too ill (or even if it doesn't make you ill at all), you should totally listen to LPC. ;)

  12. ach I want all those cups. I hated coffee too, until a project in first year made me cave to my swedish housemate making me cups of coffee all night. but I only like coffee if James makes it. I usually put too much or too little of something in, but I like it looking and tasting akin to tar. also with you on the mushrooms thing. I think I inherited my dads tastebuds, although I still havn't learnt to like olives or wine.

  14. What an amazing mug with a penguin handle! I also drink way too much coffee, I think when you have a small person that wakes you up between 6- 6.30am every morning it pretty much comes with the territory. There's no point fighting it- I need it to function at that hour of the morning!

  18. Those cups are very sweet. I love odd shaped pottery. And yes, you don't need to drink coffee to have cups. I use them for lots of storage things including pencils and makeup brushes.

I tend to drink lattes. Somehow, in my head, if the espresso is diluted with all that milk, it doesn't count (but it does wake me up!) x

  19. Yay coffee!

Pseudo science fact: as we get older our tastes buds become less sensitive, so things that were bitter or icky when we were younger actually taste better now!

On that note, don't make kids eat things they really don't want to. Sure they need their veggies, but that broccoli you're forcing down their throat could very well be the most disgusting thing in the world to them at that point.

  21. Love love love that penguin cup! I'm still in the hating coffee camp (mainly because it makes me sick and shakey) but I do also love the smell. Nothing could drag me away from my green tea though – I have borderline scary obsession with it (ie nearly cried at work today when I realised I had none left!!)
