diana does france.

I faced my fear and used film. I not only used film, I used film in a highly unreliable 50 year old camera. I not only used film in a highly unreliable 50 year old camera, I used film in a highly unreliable 50 year old camera and didn't use anything else. No digital SLR, no camera phone. Just film. (apart from that time I pinched my father in law's point and shoot thingy because I thought my HU50YOC looked pretty cool against the yellow table in the restaurant by the canal.) So, I have no photos of France to show you yet. In fact I may never have photos of France to show you, given the Highly Unreliable nature of my HU50YOC. Whatever. I'll just tell you that it was good, really good. Even if we didn't get our dirty weekend by the sea and it was Too Damn Hot and I had to work and mosquitoes BIT MY BOOBS. Even then, it was good. Wine + cheese + bread + coffee + shorts + naked babies chasing a ball kind of good.

the last day.

On our last day in London we went to Kew Gardens. Notice how none of my pictures are of plants.  (The plants there are very nice though.) Instead we enjoyed what we knew would be our last lazy day together as a family for Quite Some Time. We walked and we talked, we carried Ammie who was Very Unhappy. We spotted planes (not hard, they fly 8 inches over your head every 3 bloody minutes), we admired eucalyptus and grass, fishes and crabs, we rolled and we lay and we delighted in a lack of dog poo and cigarette butts. We ate left over anniversary cake from Konditor and Cook, we rolled our eyes at the old people who were extraordinarily mean.  We smelled the roses and chased the peacocks, climbed spiralling staircases and looked down on a jungley world.

the seaside.

Earlier this month we went to London. It started off with photographing a wedding which morphed into a holiday, and then it went.... wrong.
So one morning when we got up and we wanted to go home and the options were either to pack or to not pack and I was supposed to be working and Nye hadn't slept for a week I said 'fuck it, let's go to the seaside. If we still want to go home when we get back, then we'll pack.' And so that's what we did.
It helped.  We stayed. For a little longer at least.
We're going away again today, for a wedding and to visit my family. When we get back we're home for three weeks and then we're going to France. People ask whether you can still travel with babies and it would seem that yes, yes you can. Whether you should is a different matter altogether.

Three years

Wasn't that just yesterday? Also, hasn't it been like, a million years?

your day in London

Tell me about your best day in London. Real or imagined, I don't care. Inspire me to do something other watch ducks Hyde Park, eat at Captain Corelli's, dip my toes in Diana's fountain.

*yes, we've done this before. No I don't care. It never gets old.

Collioure

Plage de collioure

Thank you all so much for your suggestions on somewhere to escape to while we're in the South of France this summer. Due to overwhelming recommendations in its favour and being easily influenced we have decided on 3 nights in Collioure (which incidentally my father in law says isn't very nice. Incidentally, we're choosing to ignore him) and wondered if the peeps who suggested it might also suggest a hotel for us to stay in. You know, as opposed to doing our own holiday research.
