Delusion

I don't know what's more embarrassing;

that I'm holding my jeans shut with an elastic band,

that I need N's help to get them over my arse,

or that I'm pretty convinced I can get another couple of months out of them.

  1. Hehe. At least you have the excuse of twinsies. I need to hurry up and get pregnant already so that I have a good excuse too! Super Congrats, by the way. I am a longtime lurker, only a recent commenter...

  2. i think this is super rational behavior. really. i mean, as long as you are comfortable, and are wearing a covering shirt it is better than spending money/wasting resources, right? I mean it would be a little more pathetic if you just needed to loose weight, but come on. as will be the case if i decide to go home and copy you, not being pregnant. ;)

  3. my pants look like that too... except there are no babies in my belly...just fat and food. *shame*

  4. Being preggo with two growing babes makes this completely justifiable in my mind. ;)

  5. yeah. so in the last couple months i've gained 5 lb. (which is A LOT of lb. for a short girl), and i kept putting on my clothes and thinking, "why are all these shrinking?!".

i think my perfume will be called DENIAL.

p.s. you can totally get two more months. all you need is a longer rubber band.

  6. haha that is awesome. and totally acceptable given the circumstances. i will have to remember this technique in the future.

  7. This is why I love you. And ditto Jamie & Celia. (Celia, I had the exact same shrinking thought yesterday when I tried to put on a pair of jeans - tried being the key word.)

  8. Haha, love this post. And to echo a lot of your other commenters, hell yeah to two more months (hopefully!)

  9. Have you seen those big (four or five inch) elastic bands that you just slap over your jeans? You can get one of those to not waste resources.

Though. Um. Waste or not, I'm voting for a few cute show off the pregnancy dresses a little while down the line. If you need help justifying those, I'm your girl. I'll totally write you a list.

PS I have done this NOT pregnant in the past. See? That's much more embarassing.

  11. I'm pretty sure you can get one of those old men extenders that you get in the delicious "Innovations" supplements in the sunday papers.

    No need to thank me!

  12. Oh my word. I have totally bookmarked this post. And Celia's people are going to have to do battle with my people, cause we've got the whole Denial thing COVERED.

  13. This is highly awesome.

Elastic is far from the last refuge of denial. I look forward to see what the next two months have in store...

  18. The fact that they still mostly fit is amazing! :-) I can only hope to not pork out when I get pregnant!

Try one of these thingies - a preggo friend of mine loves hers! It extends your jeans AND hides your undercrackers -

  19. @jamie, 'comfortable' is debatable. They're good for standing up in but as soon as I'm sitting at my desk they come off. I did have to give in and buy maternity trousers for work, the elastic band method is definitely not comfortable enough for 10 hours of photographing weddings!

@meg @ rachel; I bought one of those belly band things last week, I love it.

  21. ha ha... i understand. i tried to keep my favorite ol' blue jeans in the mix until i could barely keep them up. do yourself a favor and splurge on a good pair of maternity jeans... i did at 5 months and was wondering what the heck i had been doing for the past few months!
