Things (funk)

I'm in a funk. It's January. I hate January. January is one big funk until the end and then it's my birthday and then it's nearly spring and then I cheer up.
Ammie has learned to kiss. She reaches over and plants her wide open mouth on your mouth and depending on whether or not you have stubble, leaves it there briefly or for absolutely ages. Then she pulls away, laughs then does it again. Sometimes she sticks her tongue in your mouth, sometimes she bites your lip. It's the best thing ever.
Ella has started moving. Properly moving. Climbing and crawling and hurumphing and falling on her face. We never thought she would let herself fall on her face, that kid spent 6 months thinking about how best to stand up before she gave it a go. That she is hurumphing is kind of amazing.
We did our first wedding of 2012, it was totally lovely. A pretty arty girl married a long-haired musical boy. The guests wore faux fur, tweed and vintage shoes. There was a gramophone dj and coloured pencils.

We're going to France again next month. I'm absolutely too tired for hairyplanes. If anyone would like to go in my place please apply in the comments. (high alcohol tolerance and GSOH essential.)
We've been talking about buying a houseboat. Because throwing our money straight into the Thames in a suitcase would be too efficient.
I cut my hair off. It's now too short to tie back and too long not to bug me all the time. I either need to wait for it to grow (patience) or cut it dead short (commitment). I don't know which of those things I'm worse at.

  2. Don't buy a houseboat. Do go to France. Don't cut hair, just style a quiff out of hair accessories. Do remember you're very lovely xx

  3. Dinosaurs!

I actually said that out loud. Clearly I need to have a child.

but not twins on a plane. Sorry.

Re: The hair, cut it again. Go big or go home.

    1. excusemepardon? I think that's first pro-child sentiment I've heard from you. Dinosaurs will do that to a girl.

  4. I've been trying to grow out my hair, and it is now at that point that it is constantly bugging me. And I can only get 1/3 of it in a ponytail. It's either in my face or on my neck — so annoying.

January is a horrid month. Where I live, February is no better. It's not until March that we start to see a little of the light at the end of the tunnel.

  5. Funks, can't live with them, can't live without them. Sending affection. I'd send sun and warmth, but we're having a cold dry winter and it's a big pain in the neck.

  6. It's sunny in Aberdeen like every day. I'm not even joking. You should come and visit. Also: hair clips are the secret. They are the truth the light and the way. Though, you could totally pull off short short if you wanted... lucky.

Also Aidan and I stayed on a houseboat on the river Themes that belonged to a hunchback lady that his uncle was shagging and it was great. I'd totally buy a houseboat, though i'd feel nervous about leaving my gear in one...

  9. I kind of like the idea of a houseboat too althought the huband thinks it is a ridicukous idea--even my good reason of not having to pay council tax {is that a myth I just made up or is it true} didn't make him budge a cm.

And I cut my hair substanitally last year and now I am growing it again but am not that patient and just want it to be long npw so I can tie it up without using grips.

    1. Hmm, not sure about the council tax thing. It seems likely though, seeing as you pay a marina for electricity and water and those councilly sort of things.

  10. I am beginning to feel a little schizophrenic... my days go like this:

Pinning wedding things/look at ring = happy!!
It's January and yet ANOTHER year = cry!
    ring = happy!!
    muddy floors/grey skies/darkness/january = cry!
    ring = happy!!

I think he will want the ring back soon...

    (cry)

  13. I think you should cut it like our lovely Milk Maid - you'd look great as a gamine.

It's colder than a witch's tit in New York. I don't know how I'm going to make it until spring.

    1. I would love to but it's kind of hard to get away with going to the hairdresser once a year (and I feel proud of myself if I manage that) when your hair is so little.

I'd swap you New York for Glasgow any day. Seriously, wanna live in my apartment? It's prolly four times the size of yours and I'd look after the cats for you.

  15. Well I think you'll be a very pretty pix with pixie hair. But then it does mean you'll have to go through that awkward growing out stage again. Unless you stay a pixie for ever, which you will anyway of course.

I like houseboats. But it MUST have window boxes with nasturtiums and a potted garden on the roof. You know like this: http://blog.piajanebijkerk.com/WordPress/2008/05/20/the-houseboat-photoshoot/

It's 35 degrees here, I am always in a filthy mood when it's hot, wanna swap?

    1. That's the exact houseboat I want!

And no, anything over 28 degrees turns me into a sweaty bitch.

  16. me too, with the funk.

cheech is big on french kissing, as well.

i like the idea of a houseboat, but i tend to gravitate toward unrealistic dreams.

your hair is killer. if i liked girls, i'd make you my bitch.

    1. I heart Cheech. I think her and Ammie might get on.

I took a picture of your wedding hair with me to the hairdresser. Then realised that your hair is like 5 times thicker than mine and it would never happen.
