London (and Brighton. And France too) Wedding Photographers

So, it looks like we're moving. I know, I already said that but enough things have happened that I actually believe it's going to work: we're moving to London!

It's all very exciting. And a bit scary. We need to shift our wedding photography profile south and I'm not quite sure how to do it (suggestions that don't involve SEO or google adwords are gratefully accepted.)  I have total faith that it's going to work out in  time. As it stands we have a couple of 2013 weddings booked in London and a couple in Scotland, which is nice.

We're in a tricksy place at the moment where London couples don't know who we are and while we're still happy to travel to Scotland for weddings, there are travel costs involved which put some people off. So in the meantime, if you feel like telling everyone you know that two really nice, really good wedding photographers (that's us) are moving to London and would like to shoot weddings there and in Brighton and anywhere else in the area really (oh, and they like the south of France too. And all of Europe if they're honest) that would be lovely.

If it would help you could show them these, which are my favourite pictures from the first half of our wedding year. Maybe you'd like to look at them too? Some of them are rather nice.

  1. i did not expect to recognize glaswegian streets from my honeymoon, but here we are - that photo of the couple in the convertible over by the university gave me full-fledged deja vu (i've been to a few of the bars on that street, now that i think about it). i'll start a rumor about the hot new photogs in town when i'm at my friends' wedding in london next month; done and done!

    1. Thank you! I can't believe you're going to be in London and we're not and we're going to miss you. It sucks balls.

  2. You know: about half of my weddings come from Offbeat Bride each year and 2/3 of the weddings that I have booked for next year come from them. They have a huge readership down in London, & most of their readership is down south. Getting on their vendor listing only costs £277, & they are running a special on advertorials (which include a years membership in their vendor listings) through the end of August: http://offbeatempire.com/2012/08/august-2012-discount

  4. Arrgh you guys are so good!! So excited that I get to be in another of your weddings soon (I know it won't *technically* be about me, but you're still going to take lots of nice pictures of me, right? RIGHT?).

London is so lucky to be getting you.

  6. Damn, you guys are good. If I knew even one person on that side of the ocean, I would let them know that they NEED to hire you.

  7. Oh, I wish you'd done my wedding photography. I was so disappointed with mine. Alas.

They're all corkers, but the one of the dog showing its belly is super. And the red-haired on the man's shoulders makes my heart melt a little bit. I love ginger kids.

    1. I'm so sorry to hear that, it sucks when that happens. I love ginger kids too, this has been the summer of the adorable ginger kid.

  10. Your photos will sell themselves! You are sooo good. I have started trying to break into the wedding market and I'm sure you already know the best way is word of mouth but this takes time. I have had some good coverage in national press and magazines but the work this brings in is fairly minimal, so I have vowed never to pay for advertising if I can help it. Try and meet as many good wedding co-ordinators as possible down here and exchange links with other wedding professionals. I find wedding fairs to be disappointing but then I am terrible at taking emails and following up. You need to find the best ones in the area, don't do any old dodgy hotel. Also try all the local good venues and become their recommended photographer. Sorry if I am teaching my Grandmother to suck eggs!
I am happy to exchange links if you want (http://neviepiecakes.com/) but obviously only if you like my work. Good luck with your move and future work. xx

    1. Hi Natasha, thank you. I'd love to exchange links. You're absolutely right about magazines, they're good for free publicity but paying for advertising isn't the best use of money. I need to get in touch with some co-ordinators, I'm horrible at networking though.

  12. Cheesy to admit but this is my first time posting although I'm a long time reader!! However...I think you'll truly be fine - I came across your blog/photography when I was planning my wedding 2 years ago. I'm based in (South) London and would have loved you to have photographed our wedding, so I'm sure you'll have lots of prospective Southern brides and grooms that have also discovered you through other blogs etc that will be jumping for joy at your relocation and having you much nearer- it will be fab to have you down here.

Also another thought.... not sure where you're going to be based but your children's photography is also truly stunning and the area where I live is brimming with pretty affluent families with young children (Dulwich/Clapham) who would truly adore your work - def. an avenue to think about! I'm happy to recommend some local, very popular forums you could post on if you are going to be based in/near South London that I'm sure would be useful. Wishing you all the best with your move - I'm sure you'll all love it down here! x

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words Lucy. We are going to be based in South London and I'm in the middle of setting up a website for kids' photography right now so that would be great. I'm really hoping that it's something I can get into, I love photographing littles.

    2. Fantastic news - I'll be sure to send the link round when you're done. You'll really love South London too I'm sure. We've just moved from Dulwich to Crystal Palace - and love it even more. If you're anywhere near Crystal Palace do go and visit the park with it's big stone dinosaurs and the maze - it's great fun!

  14. I suppose Canada is a little far as well. Gorgeous pics. Makes me want a wedding. Not a husband. Just a wedding. ;)

  15. These are beautiful. There has been a spate of engagements round here so I shall recommend you to all of them. Good luck!

  16. You guys. You just have a special way with those camera things, don't ya?

No practical advice but I shall TELL EVERYONE.

  17. You guys are amazing like whoa. LIKE WHOA.

  18. PANIC NOT. I am beyond excited that you are taking our wedding photos in November, whilst the venue is technically 40mins from London, pretty much all attendees are Londoners and many of them are couples who are either engaged or bloody well should be soon...two of them are even photographers and four of them are in London-based PR so you can hit them up for some advice on getting yourselves out there. (Plus Pickering will be there which will make everything good) We also live in the child-swamped Dulwich like your other poster Lucy and agree that you will make an absolute killing in SE London amongst the parents.

Your work is amazing, we cannot wait to see you in London!

    1. Mrs Beard! You're Mrs Beard! I wondered. We're very excited too. It's going to be a very good wedding and I like the sound of these couples who are engaged or bloody well should be soon.

    1. I loved that too! And you can't see it but one of the other things on the list was 'give the cat his anti-depressants' (I para-phrase) which I also loved.

  20. Stunning pictures, seriously good. I have plenty of friends still residing in London, none with weddings coming up just yet but should be some on the cards fairly soon....just the blokes dragging their feet and ptending they're still 18. I will put your name to them of course when the time comes but sure they wouldn't take much persuading when they see your work, I absolutely recommended you guys to my sister for her wedding last year but you were already booked for her date!

    1. Aww, thank you Faye. I'll hang in there for your un-engaged friends to get a move on!

  21. You guys are so GOOD, it's unreal. UNREAL. How do you catch these shots? LOVE the one of the bride and (her father? in the kilt?) dancing. And the to-do list is HILARIOUS but you made it beautiful. How on earth did you get the shot of the bride getting her makeup done with Single Ladies on the TV in the background? It's witty and lovely at the same time. You'll be fine as soon as people see these. Wish I knew people in London.

    1. THANK YOU. It was actually the bride's sister-in-law and the bride's dad and they were fabulous, I loved them. And I waited for a long time (well, about 3.16 minutes) for just the right bit in Single Ladies!

  25. These are so stunning. I also love the to-do list and the traffic light shot too. I will be sure to recommend you to my friends! Also HURRAY you're moving to South London! We're in South East in Brockley and love it here. If you fancy a cuppa sometime let me know.

  26. You guys wont have any problem settling in and increasing your profile in London. Your work speaks for itself. You seem to capture all those tiny, fleeting, tender moments that slip by so fast - moments that are impossible to relive. Memories that are impossible to articulate without images like these. Powerful shots that couples will cherish. Forever.

PS - that portrait of the old chap. Oh. Wow.

Good luck with the move. You'll kill it down there.x

  27. I have no advice on marketing but I'm very excited for you guys that the move is happening.

Your work is amazing - I will tell any of my engaged friends, colleagues, people wearing engagement rings on the tube, about you.

And try and persuade PA that we need some photos of the turnip kid not taken on my phone.
