Happy World Book Day.
She became a much happier lumberjack once the tickly beard was removed and an untickly one painted on. Now I await their return from school and the indignant clamour of 'the other kids were dressed as superheroes, you said superheroes DIDN'T COUNT. *I* wanted to be a superhero too.'
One day they'll appreciate my push for them to be creative, literary, individual, right? Right?
I love this way of celebrating World Book Day. Also, props for creativity.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I was pretty proud of what we managed without buying a single thing (because we live somewhere where all you can buy is food!), it was a stretch of the old imagination/creativity.
DeleteWow, that's even more impressive. I couldn't build an axe if I had actual steel and wood (or whatever it is they make them with), never mind household goods.
DeleteI picked Willy Wonka (small nephew) up from school yesterday and he was surrounded by superheroes and disney princesses.
ReplyDelete:( I get that not everyone is creative or has an issue with kids and branding but it worries me that maybe people just aren't... reading? Maybe they don't have a favourite book character to dress up as? That's sadder than the crappy outfits.
DeleteRIGHT. Nice work. Being third Cinderella/spiderman on the left in nasty money-to-the-man made-in-sweatshops flammable polyester is not cool. (It's days like world book day that I feel extra sad for not having children. I have a degree in costume design and have been reading avidly since age 3 1/2 I would have been great at this bit of being a parent)
ReplyDeletethere's clearly a gap in the market for good kid's costumes, you should get on that! Although, the bloody kids all WANT to go as spiderman, which is hard to get around.
